In England, there is a proposal by police chiefs to to create a registry of repeat domestic violence offenders. In theory, women would be able to check the list to make sure any potential partners didn’t have a history of domestic violence offenses.
From The Telegraph:
The move would be backed up by a second proposal from The Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo) to set up a register for up to 25,000 serial wife-beaters where they would have to keep police up to date with their movements and activities.
It would be similar to the sex offenders register although a requirement to sign it would be at the discretion of a court rather than automatic.
We’ll keep an eye on this story and let you know if the proposal moves forward.
